I struggled to keep going. My partner and I were at least ten meters ahead of the next bunch. Then Sara, my basic partner, fell. "Come on! We have to go! We mustn't stop!" I said and ran back to her. I offered her my hand. "My leg! Oh my dear Lord my ankle!" then Sara started to scream. I looked at her. I looked back at Mr Large who was screaming at another bunch of kids. I made up my mind. I picked Sara up and carried her in my arms, like a little kid. God she was light! She was only ten and I was twelve so it was okay. I had to move slowly, because any sudden movement would injure Sara even more. Almost all of the others passed me. I was lucky there was only ground left. The last group passed me. Sara was silently crying. Large caught up with me. "What are you! Are you pathetic? WHY ARE YOU CARRYING HER!" Large screamed. Honextly, I wanted to beat him. "She has a broken ankle sir!" I explained while still jogging. "SO?!" Large yelled. "So I'll never leave a person behind!" I yelled at him. A hush fell over all the other trainees. No one yells at Large. I crossed the finish line and carefully set Sara down. "Speaks! Take her to the infrimery. Troops, supper. Maura, dig your grave." and Large chucked a garden spade at me. I sighed. It's all in a days work....
